Michael Geiser (fb): "For Lycidae it's quite important to get a good view of the pronotum (dorsal view if possible), to see the pattern of ridges and flat areas in between them. For Europe, this is often enough to even get to species (because there are not that many...). For the Tropics, it can indicate the tribe or genus, at least!
Lycidae are notorious for their widespread mimetism, so it's quite normal to see several species with the same colouration in one spot, but belonging to different tribes!".
